Clearwing / Whitewing Budgie

Clearwing is the subject for much debate in the avicultural community. They are the third of the main dilution mutations, developed in Germany in the 1930s. Although some believe that they are selectively-bred Greywings, there is reason to believe that Clearwing is caused by an allele on the same gene as Dilute and Greywing. Clearwings are identified by their very slight color dilution (usually no more than 10%), and sometimes by their undiluted cheek markings. These set them apart from most Greywings, though there can occasionally be some overlap with well-bred Greywings and poor-quality Clearwings.

The result of crossing a Clearwing and a Greywing is a Full Body Color Greywing, or FBCG (see Greywing for more information).
