Blue-fronted amazon x Blue and gold macaw

One of the first Amazon x macaw hybrids, it miraculously hatched between two pet birds after being discounted as infertile. This one-of-a-kind bird is similar in size to an Amazon parrot, but has more macaw-like proportions and markings. Its plumage is Amazon-green with a bright gold chest and bluish primary flight feathers. Some small yellow feathers poke up above its rounded grey bill, but they form nothing of substance. Like many macaw x non-macaw hybrids, the patch between its eyes and bill is somewhat patchy and its slender, tiered tail is shortened to medium-length. Macaw + Amazon crosses are likely to be infertile and lack a fully-developed preening gland. They are extraordinarily rare.
