A bird originally sold as a painted conure but was later found to be a hybrid between a green-cheeked conure and grey-breasted conure based on the face and collar markings. While hybridizations with rare species are common, it is rarer to find such a hybrid labeled as one species from a breeder without it entirely.
A bird much like green-cheeked + sun conure hybrids, so much so that they can be extremely difficult to differentiate. Faded green-cheeked conure markings are present on the face and neck.
A relatively common hybrid, but they are rarely identified. In this case, maroon-bellied traits (a greenish forehead and green-tinged flight feathers) are very noticeable. These green-tinged flight feathers are pictured second in an opaline cinnamon mutation individual.
These hybrids have many green-cheek conure traits, such as a faded collar and ear, but a yellow-orange waistband still remains from the sun conure hybrid. They are 50% green-cheeked conure, 25% nanday conure, and 25% sun conure.
Easiest to identify from the faded markings on its head, blues and reds are very rare on pure, non-mutation green cheeked conures.
No future pictures were posted, but the hybrid offspring can already be seen to have red-green tails, which would be a feature exclusive to a hybrid.
A mostly green hybrid with slight red-orange coloration on the head and neck. As in all half-moon hybrids, the maxilla is light-colored while the mandible is dark-colored. The second pictured bird has an opaline (yellow-sided) mutation inherited from the father green cheek conure.
The clearest identifier of this hybrid is the color of their faces; when young, they have maroon-colored heads, while as adults they have somewhat brighter red heads. The birds pictured are young examples of these hybrids.
Another extremely common conure hybrid, many of the green-cheek conures available today likely have some maroon-bellied ancestry. Individuals with recent maroon-bellied influence tend to have greener heads, tails with mixed green and red, and fewer dark grey markings.
Likely occurs often, but rarely identified. The clearest “tellers” for this hybrid are their large white ears and increased blue coloration, which are abnormal for a pure green-cheek.
