The gold-cheek mutation is a cockatiel morph first established by Barbara Greene in Virginia. They are said to have a dull golden face unlike the shades of other yellow-cheek morphs. Many breeders have reported that gold-cheeks are very poor parents, which may be tied to estrogen production. Whether or not this is directly due to the gold-cheek mutation is still unclear. Their cheeks are slightly yellower and less saturated than dominant yellow-cheek. However, such comparisons are rarely needed due to how difficult these birds are to acquire. A Female is pictured.
