Recessive Pied Indian Ringneck Parakeet

A bird with yellow patches on its wings, nape, tail, and flight feathers. An open wing shot is pictured second (the individual is also combined with violet and indigo). It is also known as German pied or Hillerman pied, named after a specific strain developed by Helmut Hillermann. A separate strain exists, called Salan strain, developed by Jaynee Salan. While Hillermans are said to lose some of their pied feathers over time, Salans remain the same. These two varieties are often interbred. Interestingly, a belief exists that ringnecks split recessive pied have notably higher voices than normal birds.
