A hybrid that looks similar to a pure rainbow lorikeet, but has very subtle differences in color. Its nape marking is yellow with scattered red feathers, it has a red-orange chest patch, and it likely has a darker blue-green belly.
This cross may have been the first lorikeet hybrid in captivity based on a report by W. Harding in a 1912 Avicultural Magazine article: “The hybrid offspring bore a yellow band on the nape, flecked with red, and the red breast was without yellow feathers at the sides; for the rest, it generally resembled its ‘Blue Mountain’ parent”.
