Recessive Pied Rainbow Lorikeet

This mutation is recessive, but since the split form looks different from regular rainbow lorikeets, it is often described with terms like SF and DF as if it were dominant. A SF pied is pictured first, with streaky pied markings mostly found on the face. A DF pied is pictured second and third, with most of the back, head, and stomach covered in pied markings. It or a similar mutation was first depicted in 1801 in Histoire naturelle des perroquets (pictured fourth).
