Maui sunset macaws are mostly olive green with a yellow-orange chest and cheeks, a fully dark beak, and a faded black chin marking. The size of their bare face and red crown can vary, but are typically somewhat small. Many hybrids are falsely sold as “Maui hybrids”, ranging from catalinas, camelots, tropicanas, and miligolds. The term is so common that a completely separate hybrid has earned the name “Maui sunrise macaw” (Catalina x harlequin).
