A rare hybrid first reported in 1978 by a pair of Pennsylvanian breeders. Illiger’s and yellow-collared macaw hybrids are emerald green with dark faces and faded red on their underbellies. They may have a very thin or nonexistent yellow collar (in this instance being hidden by the wing).
